Who we are:

EGIV is a private nonprofit organization comprised of active military, PTSD veterans and their family members.  We are working together to help build public awareness and understanding of the challenges of living with PTSD and to provide options and resources for veterans, active military and their families.

Our Mission

The purpose of EGIV (Embrace Groups Involving Veterans) is to provide opportunities, community outreach and sustainable programs that will promote growth and stability for active military, returning veterans and their families.

EGIV Program Development

Acknowledging that active military and returning combat veterans, as well as their families, are forever changed by their experiences, EGIV is committed to finding new ways to help families adjust to the challenges of their new lives.  Our nonprofit is partnering with many veteran-focused organizations, first responders and community churches to find and implement collaborative new approaches and programs aimed at saving lives and keeping families together.

Some of the programs we are exploring and working to develop include:

  • Zoo Camp - A program already operated by the Oregon Zoo will be expanded to include a special day- and over-night camp designed to bring together children of veterans and active military who share common fears related to parents in harm's way;

  • On-the-Job-Training and Volunteer opportunities - Matching a veteran's skills and needs with community opportunities;

  • EGIV Vet-Aways - Vets and their families take a break to be together for retreats at lakeside and ocean-beach locations designed to provide tranquil settings for families to spend time together in a low-stress environment;

  • Vet Court - Working with Oregon and Washington court systems to establish a wholistic approach to handling PTSD veterans in criminal court;

  • EGIV PTSD Awareness Program

EGIV remains open to the development of other innovative projects that aim at helping keep combat families together, especially those projects that allow for partnerships with other active military and PTSD veteran programs throughout Oregon and Washington.
